From the works of authors to the beauty of the butterfly and the grace of horses, some events bring entertainment and enjoyment to many. Here’s a look at what is being planned for April in Columbus. As always, check the website of each event listed below to get the latest details.

Equine Affaire

From April 13-16, thousands of people attend this great event for people who are horse enthusiasts. It takes place at Ohio Expo Center and advertises itself as “North America’s premier equine exposition and equestrian gathering.” Among the main attractions of the Equine Affaire are the Versatile Horse and Rider Competition, where riders go through an obstacle course with their horses and try to capture a part of the $5,500 cash purse.

There is also the largest horse-related trade show in the country and a variety of training clinics and seminars. A wide range of horse and farm exhibits and demos with live horses also make up the more hands-on part of Equine Affaire.

Go to the extensive Equine Affaire website to learn more about specific dates, admission and other details.

Blooms and Butterflies

The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens hosts this fantastic event every year as winter turns to spring. Its Pacific Island Water Garden Biome hosts hundreds of butterflies flying in the open.

With flora and plants around every corner, the butterflies can be seen best from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. While it’s important to be careful and not touch the butterflies or try to feed them, it’s an event that can still be breathtaking.

It’s also great for the “blooms” part of the equation, as you can see nectar blooms and other flora that attract the butterflies from their consistent flights around the biome.

The Blooms and Butterflies attraction is now through May 29 at the conservatory. It’s best to reserve tickets to this specific ongoing event, which is included in the venue’s admission price. Their website has more details.

The Ohioana Book Festival

Book lovers from around the region flock to the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library for this great event. About 150 authors take part in this celebration of the literary world.

Last year, the festival was virtual, but for 2023, the library is hosting the event on site on April 22. Among the different parts of the festival are panel discussions, readings and the large annual book fair from The Book Loft of German Village.

The types of authors cover all the basics, including fiction and nonfiction. There are also a group of poets as well as authors that specialize in books for young children and young adults.

Helping with association business

Any season, any time of the year, you may also have some business needs, especially if you’re part of a homeowners’ association. If that is the case, then PMI Scioto Metro can help with all the details you need to handle.

Among the tasks we can do to keep things flowing are managing communications, overseeing subcontractors, assessment collection and billing and obtaining bids for service. We’re also well-versed in providing payment centers, enforcing covenants, providing statements and reports and being an advisor to your board of directors.

Our website has more details on what we can do for your association or board.
